So I am expecting baby number three! I have a sister who makes nursing covers and she asked me if I would like one...of course I said yes! Then, while I was searching the Etsy website for nursing covers and other nursing items I came across some nursing reminder bracelets. These caught my eye because I design and make jewelry myself. I thought these were very clever, except for the fact that I just don't wear jewelry when I have a new baby. I find that bracelets just get caught on baby's clothes and besides that, I can't remember to put any jewelry on! I liked the idea of having a reminder of which side to nurse on, since that is my biggest challenge when it comes time to feed a crying baby (try to remember which side you're on in the middle of the night and baby is crying inconsolably)! I found several options for nursing reminders that attach in some way or another to the bra strap, but they were bulky with beads or some kind of cute button or bling. I didn't want anything so bulky that would show under my clothes. Also, I don't always wear a bra to sleep in, so I wanted something that could easily attach to any item of clothing without the need for buttons, snaps or pins. So, my creative brain and I (and my good friend Danette) got together and came up with the idea of these magnetic nursing reminders. I tested a prototype for several days and even wore one to bed for a couple of nights....works flawlessly! Very easy to use and change sides with one hand (since you are usually one handed while nursing)! I have tested several magnets of different strengths and came up with the thinnest, yet strongest magnet available. I let my mom see the prototypes and she wanted a couple to use as bookmarks! My husband wants a few to attach to his golf bag to use as golf ball markers. I'm even using one to keep all my coupons together! The possibilities are endless!
So there you have the Mammary-Minder story from idea to actual product! I hope you enjoy these clever little reminders and spread the word to all the nursing moms you know!
